“For whatever reason, I had never learned to "correctly" hinge my wrists up and down ---- plus at the top of swing --- how to correctly drop my hands straight down with minimum weight shift. For the first time, I have the club on the correct swing plane . I am 63 years old --- and I have never hit the ball better - or further.”

This is really cool stuff here, Shawn. I’ve been studying swing mechanics on “clemshaw” and Wayne Defrancesco.com but this may be better for me. I am able to break 80 half the time but I have one consistent problem: toe hits. I even do it on the chips. I tend to come out of the spine angle on the downswing and my backside does not stay against the line and I’m working on that. Also, I tend to “throw away the angle” early and quit on body rotation and get flipy with my hands. Now I’m getting really confused since I’ve been told I’m a “one-planer” and should start the downswing with the torso – forget leg-drive. This conflicting advice tends to make me worse. Any input on this toe-hitting? I don’t see how I can break 80 and still toe hit 80% of my shots. I’ll try anything to cure this toe hitting – ANYTHING! Thanks.
Tom
Tom,
Thanks for the note. Since you’re having trouble with impact and loosing your spine angle–resulting in hitting it off the toe. I would highly recommend using a Velocity Leverage Bag. I use one all the time for creating the proper angles at impact. I have them available in my online store. They also come with an electronic training video. This will definitely get you on the right track. Thanks, Shawn
I am playing the Stadium course of TPC Sawgrass on 10/6 and 10/7 for the Nature Valley.com tournament. Saw your 125 yards and in. I am very interested in 125 yards and in because in my opinion. I SHOULD BE ON THE GREEN OR NEAR EDGE.
THANK YOU,
MIKE WEST
James, Thats why one should spend so much time on their distance wedges. Keep grinding and good luck at the TPC. I’m headed there next week. Sh
shawn, i took a lesson from you several yrs ago – about 3 hrs
would like to do another, or maybe a 2 day or 3 day program
coming from tulsa ok
low hdcp, looking to improve plane/path
hitting a cut right now, would like to get back to a draw
what would you suggest
Craig,
At this time my private training schedule is very limited. I would recommend checking our one of our schools in November–they are held in Florida. I will be heading those up.

I am still confused about the hinging of the wrists. Do both wrists hinge straight up or does the right wrist bend back on itself. When should the wrist hinge occur. I have read your book and have two of your videos. Still having trouble with this concept. Also, the shoulders leading the back swing have me whipping the club inside. Or so I am told. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks
Its a blend of turning your core and hinging at the same time. This is done by doing multiple of rehearsals in front of the mirror and I mean that lightly. More like hours until it becomes a new habit. Its not somehting that is just learned–it has to be conditioned.
Shawn, I have never watched any of your videos except for the past few weeks but I think your lessons are very good. Lately I have been hitting a big draw (almost a snap hook). I normally hit a pretty straight shot with my driver with maybe a little draw. I have been trying to work on my release because I feel like i’m not finishing towards my target and rapping it around my body but it seems like after I get it fixed, I go right back to it after a couple days. I was wondering if you have any tips or drills to help me fix this.
Thanks,
Garrett
